Oddities and Discoveries

Yesterday began in a fairly normal way - got up, made coffee, ate yogurt - and then Larry decided to take his motorcycle pants and a couple of pairs of jeans to the laundromat in Marysville. I stayed home in Jumbo and took a shower and washed the dishes, not expecting him to be back for awhile. Pretty soon I saw my little red car pull up in front of Jumbo and Larry got out, carrying his wet pants. He proceeded to hang them up here and there around Jumbo. I decided not to ask why, since he seemed to be in a bit of a disagreeable mood. I found out why later. While he was at the laundromat he had to use the restroom and found that there was a keypad on the door. He went to the attendant and was told that he had to show two pieces of ID and that she would have to make copies of them. What???? Just to use the bathroom???? Well, obviously that was not something he was willing to do, so he took his wet clothes and left...never to return! It looks like we'll be using Betty's Laundry. Mom doesn't ask for any kind of ID, and usually makes us tuna sandwiches as a bonus!

Larry was a bit bummed because he hadn't heard back about the part time job he had interviewed for at Auto Zone. A person can only read so many books, and now that he doesn't have a garden to get ready as he has in the past when this time of the year rolls around, boredom was beginning to set in. He really needs something to do, plus the added income would definitely help. He had been reading so much, that he was totally out of books, so a visit to the library was in order. He hadn't visited the main library in downtown Everett yet, so off we went. We both walked out with our arms full of new reading material, and on the way out of the parking garage, Larry announced that he was going to get a hair cut. What????? I thought the day would never come! He said that he realized he would never get a job unless he cut his hair. I don't know if that's true or not, but I always tell him that he looks younger with shorter hair, so I wasn't going to argue. He pulled into a Super Cuts in Marysville and I decided to wait in the car and start one of my new library books. When the car door finally opened, I thought a stranger was getting in. He got his hair cut, alright - shorter than I've ever seen on him. I was shocked! It will take me a while to get used to this...

"I almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It was gettin' kinda long
I could-a said, it was in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone"

We no sooner pulled out of the parking lot after getting his hair cut and were just about to turn onto the road heading back to Tulalip when Larry's cell phone rang. It was the manager of Auto Zone and after they spoke for a few minutes, Larry said, "you mean I'm hired?" Wow! Getting his hair cut really did work!

We moved ourselves and Jumbo back to Angel of the Winds. The time has come to put a stop to this gypsy lifestyle and settle down, so this morning we are going to look at an RV park in Lynnwood - closer to where Larry will be working. Hopefully it will work out for us, at least until our dream lot next to a river materializes. If not, we'll be back and forth between Casinos for a while longer.

To celebrate Larry's new job, we went to Scuttlebutt for dinner - Larry tried the Hop Voodoo and fell in love with it! I stuck with a chardonnay and ordered my usual for dinner - clam strips and chips. Yum!!!  And Duchess, of course, got a box of leftovers to scarf down on the ride home.

But before we went home, we stopped off for a stroll through the Arboretum in Legion Park to see if the Japanese Maples had leafed out yet. They had, and were gorgeous.

A gorgeous tulip.

This Japanese Maple was a lovely shade of pink...

And this one was almost white..

And this one... a lovely shade of green...

More unfurling of fern fronds...

And another Japanese Maple in a lovely shade of red...

All in all, a lovely day!
