Fields of Gold and Beaches for Dogs

On Monday, March 31, Larry & I decided to venture out and do some more exploring. He had been wanting to see Deception Pass, so since it was such a beautiful morning, we packed a lunch and headed that way, via LaConner.

We passed some gorgeous daffodil fields...

We stopped for a short time in La Conner. It's always been one of my favorite little towns.

A tribute to Dirty Biter, La Conner's town dog...

We walked down to a pier at the end of town...

 Rainbow Bridge...

An old warehouse...

We climbed back into the car and were back on our way, passing more daffodil fields.

We arrived in Bay View, and I told Larry that we should look for the Cemetery, because I knew that my Grandpa Kenley was buried there. We drove by this pretty church, but saw no sign of the cemetery.

I called Mom and she told me how to get there, and said that there were some of her other relatives buried there as well. Larry and I found it, and  traipsed through the entire cemetery searching for familiar names. Finally, when we were almost back to where we had parked the car, I found Grandpa Kenley and his wife, Amelia...

We left the cemetery and drove to Deception Pass. It had been years since I had been there, and this was Larry's first time. We couldn't have picked a more perfect day.

We drove into Deception Pass State Park and agreed that we will have to camp there sometime this summer - not in Jumbo, but in our trusty tent.

We wanted to stop at one more beach before heading for the ferry home, so I checked the map and found that there was a city park in Oak Harbor with a beach that Duchess should love.

We left Whidbey Island, knowing that we would be visiting many more times in the future.
