We headed down the highway and about 32 miles to Williams, Arizona, and Williams Mountain.
Williams is the last town on Route 66 by-passed by I-40. I had read that this town was full of history, but I had no idea how fascinating it really was.
We stopped by the old railroad station...
Williams has scads of motels left over from the Mother Road days, still boasting their original neon signs...
We parked Jumbo and hopped in the car, driving down the main street and parking every few blocks to take pictures.

The architectural details are beautiful...
Williams was a rough & ready western logging town, full of saloons and houses of ill repute. The Red Garter was one of the best!
When Larry lived in Prescott, Arizona he worked for Western Newspapers, Inc. as Webmaster & Computer Tech and regularly visited Williams, among other small Arizona towns to update their websites and install and maintain their computer systems.
We're now leaving Pine Country Restaurant and Pie Shop, where we ate breakfast and updated the blog. We are headed for the Grand Canyon and plan to stop here again on Monday for pie as we continue west!

Thanks for sharing your journey! Lots of Fun!!!!
