It was just a bit overcast, but quite pleasant...
Sea grass...
There were a couple of fisherman out in the water. I didn't see anyone catch anything, though. Maybe it was just a meditative experience for them.
gnarly driftwood...
It was a little difficult for me to maneuver my way around the logs and rocks and keep Duchess under control. I kept thinking that if another dog appeared out of nowhere, she would take off running and, with my arthritic knee, I wouldn't be able to keep up with her and would most likely land on my face in a pile of seaweed. Not a pleasant thought, so I sat on a log and let her sniff about awhile before we headed back up the hill.
I had noticed a lot of tent caterpillars crawling around, and when I walked over to take a picture of the wild roses, I discovered their homes...
Pretty nasty, but I guess everyone needs to live somewhere!
We left Picnic Point, but still had a lot of time to kill before picking Larry up from work. In my former life, before I moved to Colorado, on of my favorite things to do on a Sunday morning was browse around Half Price Books, so off I went. I arrived just as they were about to open.
I love this place. I could spend hours here, and in the past I've been known to do that very thing. And the comforting thing about it is that it hasn't changed much at all since I last visited over ten years ago. I feel at home the minute I walk through the doors.
Now, it was Larry's birthday, so I should be shopping for him, right? I tried, really I did, and what I ended up buying was really as much for him as it is for me...a larger version of the wonderful crock pot cookbook that I had discovered at the library. I had actually bought a second crock pot the day before, because there isn't an easier way to cook in the motor home. I don't have to turn the propane on or anything! This book is perfect - everything from soup to desserts!
I will no longer have to ask Larry, "What do you want for dinner?" My crock pot will be simmering away every night when he walks in the door. And, on occasion, the little one may hold tapioca pudding or apple cobbler. Yummmmm.
Finally it was time to retrieve Larry from Auto Zone, stop for a bite at Taco Time, and head on home to Jumbo. Larry decided to change the oil in my car, and while he was doing so, Margie called to ask if it was OK for her and Mom to come over. Mom had yet to see Jumbo, and Margie hadn't seen us since we moved into this lovely place here in Clearview. I gave her directions and thought I'd better run on down to Albertson's for a bottle of wine, just in case those two ladies were thirsty. I had to wait a bit for Larry to finish up with my oil change, so as a result, I ended up following Margie into the driveway of the mobile home park. We had a great visit - Mom thought my paint job was a little reminiscent of Grandma Ferguson, but I took that as a compliment! I rather liked her eccentric color choices, although we all had to agree that the pink bathtub was a bit much!
Larry opened his presents from Margie and Mom... they definitely know what he likes! Margie found all of these interesting local beers at Trader Joe's.
After Mom and Margie left, Larry took a nap before dinner. Around 6:00 he woke up and we got ready to head on down to Mill Creek to our now-favorite Thai Restaurant - Thai Rhapsody. The place was hopping, but we were seated right away.
The Birthday Boy...
We began our epicurean adventure with a cup of green tea...
I ordered Golden Cashew with prawns. I thought about being more adventurous, since I had Golden Cashew with chicken on our last visit, but why mess with a good thing?
Larry had Green Curry with prawns. He went up a notch with the heat, and this time it was nearly perfect!
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I ate the entire helping of my dish- nothing left to take home. I couldn't help myself - it was scrumptious!
One more sip of tea, and it's time to go home....
