Everything's Coming Up Radishes!

Our garden in pots is coming along nicely, although it is a bit of a shock to go from gardening on five acres to doing so in front of Jumbo. On the other hand, there are no weeds to deal with!  Here's the rainbow chard - not quite ready to saute up yet, but it's getting there!

Last week the mobile park brought in a dumpster so that the residents could do a bit of Spring Cleaning. It seemed as if as many people pulled things out of the dumpster as put them in. Larry found this piece of trellis that we thought would work great behind some peas, so on Saturday I paid another visit to Flower World for more snow peas...

I also found some more Rainbow Chard and  Cilantro. Larry planted them in this planter Mom gave me that we think was mine in the first place. I gave it to her when I moved to Colorado, and it's come full circle back to me again.

The tomato plants are full of blossoms, but no tomatoes yet.

After much searching, I was finally able to find a red pot for the Bee Balm that I found with Mom at Sorticulture. The hummingbirds should love it! In the foreground are all of the little radishes, and the oregano that I took home from Mom's garden.

The strawberry plant...

I can't wait to harvest something!

On another note, I decided that once in awhile I would like to have something a little more exciting than wine to sip on at the end of the day. Not that wine can't be exciting, but that's as far as I usually venture into the world of alcoholic libations. While at the library a few days ago, I came upon a book of vintage cocktails, but after looking through it I realized I didn't like Vodka, Rum, Whiskey or Tequila, which is why I guess I usually stick to wine. But wait - what about Gin! I've always had a weakness for it. The smell alone is intoxicating! I wanted a Gin Martini! The only problem is, after more than one glass I become less than nice. One could say I verge on nasty. So I promised Larry that one would be my limit. We stopped at the liquor store, and I realized I didn't have any martini glasses. They didn't have any there, so before we could concoct our very special drinks, I had to make a trip to Pier 1. Another trip to the grocery store for olives, and we were ready...mmmmm. And yes, I did keep my promise... one drink per night, and only every few nights. That way it lasts longer!

Enough of that...let's talk a little about Jumbo. After all, none of this would be possible without him! Larry made the shelf that he had been planning for the top of the dashboard. Now we have more room for things like his library books that had been homeless...

Looks pretty good. We hung my Indian bedspread over the front window to keep out prying eyes. And my basket of shells looks quite lovely there. I picked up a ceramic starfish and sand dollar at Sorticulture to add a bit of interest to the collection.

Now, on to my latest project. I felt that the driver's seat was pretty boring looking, not to mention in desperate need of a good cleaning.  It's OK when it's being used by a driver, but when we're just sitting here and it's become a piece of our living room furniture, it definitely needs something.

Pretty ugly, right? I've been thinking about a granny square afghan. I haven't crocheted in over forty years, but maybe it's one of those things you never forget, like riding a bike. I hope that's the case, since I bought a slew of yarn, in colors that go with the elephant pillow that has been the inspiration for Jumbo's color scheme.

and while I was shopping for yarn, I couldn't resist bringing Margie home to jam with Dot in the dollhouse. She has her pink guitar and everything! Actually, I bought the guitar when Larry and I visited EMP, and was going to give it to the "real" Margie, but it looked so perfect in my dollhouse, I couldn't resist keeping it. You go, girls!
