We took the Whispering Firs Trail, which is only about a half-mile loop.
It was perfect, with no steep hills to aggravate my arthritis - just a little mud here and there.
A lot of things were just beginning to pop up in the forest. We spotted some Western Trillium...
and a fern frond just about to unfurl...
Larry resting his head on what would have made a perfect giant slingshot!
It was very peaceful. There was no one else on the trail, except for an occasional bicyclist.
There were, of course, beautiful sword ferns everywhere!
What would a walk in the Pacific Northwest Woods be without a slug encounter?
There was much moss to be seen...
The walk reminded me so much of the woods around our house when I was a child. Red Huckleberries grew in profusion in our woods. We would feast on them by the handfuls. They were pretty tasty, too.
A pretty little mushroom...
Soon we were back on the Mainline Trail...
