Happy Birthday to Me!

“When you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry.
Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.”
― William Saroyan

An appropriate quote since now I am officially an "Old Lady"! 65... how did that happen? Oh, well. Nothing I can do about it except look forward to the many adventures that lie ahead.

My birthday was fantastic. It began with Larry making a run to Starbucks for coffee - a mocha for me and a vanilla latte for him. But when he returned, I thought, "hmmmm, those don't look like Starbucks cups," and they weren't. When he arrived at Starbucks, he found that their espresso machines were down, so he went down the road a block or so to High Mark Espresso, which was cheaper and just as good!

and there were presents, too! My camera was actually an early birthday present, and I've been enjoying it for weeks now, but Larry gave me something else that I really needed...

An LED book light. I had been using one of the LED lights that are intended to go inside a closet, and it was very difficult to prop it up against my chest at night and manage to get enough light on the page to read. This one works great, and I can read into the night without disturbing Larry.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing around the house. Matt called to wish me a Happy Birthday, and when I told him that we were going out for Thai food that night with Mom and Margie, he knew that Nora and the boys would want to come along with him, too, so it was going to be a party after all!

We had reservations at Thai Rhapsody for 6 p.m. and got there around 5:45...

Everyone was already there...

Larry and I have eaten here a few times and love it!

I wasn't going to have a drink, but it was my birthday, after all. Nora's Mojito looked pretty good, but  I decided on a Watermelon Gin Fizz. I don't especially care for watermelon, but this was very good!

Matt looks pretty happy, even though he was only having plain old iced tea.

Matt and Nora know how much I love Half Price Books, so got me a gift card!
Now I'll have something to read with my new book light!

Andy and Ben both ordered the Crying Tiger.
I love the name, and the sticky rice came in the cutest little baskets!

Larry had Sweet and Sour with Prawns -
Stir-fried fresh cucumber, tomato, onions, pineapple and bell peppers in sweet and sour sauce,  and a pot of chai tea. He ordered a "5" heat level, but it just wasn't hot enough for him, so asked for some chili sauce. That did the trick!

I always order the same thing - Golden Cashew with chicken. I know, I'm not a very good vegetarian, but "It's my party, and I'll eat what I want to!"

Time for more presents....Margie seems to be carrying on the book theme.
The wine she picked out was called "Well Read."

Margie found this adorable Jumbo at an antique shop in Arlington. It was perfect.
 I was thrilled with it!

I have such a sweet sister!

and a pretty nice Mom! She knows me well...

 There will be martinis tonight!

She even picked out a little martini glass charm!

My glass is empty, so it must be time to leave... but wait, there's more!

a huge pot of mums! Thank you, Matt and Nora, Andy and Ben!

Hugs for everyone... I love the look on Ben's face!

Love you, Margie!

One more hug, and we were on our way home...

The perfect ending to a perfect birthday!
